This is a blog about life (or “cookies and stuff” as Husband calls it). And the stories, recipes, messes, and projects that keep it adventurous in a million little ways.
You can find more (as well as all the archives!) at chuckandwelly.com
I’m a wife, a mom, a novice baker, and a woman who strives to seek the Lord with all her heart.
My life is slightly ridiculous. I am married to a very silly yet wonderful man and we have the most handsome, hilarious tiny human ever (affectionately referred to as “‘Saurus” or “the tiny one”) We have a tendency to move around a lot and I’m trying to start a zoo in my backyard. Not really, but sometimes it seems that way. We have two adorable, energy-filled and smelly lab mutts named Ranger and Tonto, and two precocious Cayuga ducks (which I ordered in the mail but that’s another story) named Charles and Wellington. Chuck and Welly have since gone on to greener pastures (literally, not figuratively; they now live at the community park) but since they’re the blog’s namesake, I’m still claiming them. I’m working on getting a pygmy goat (who I will name Clarence) and a giraffe (who I will name Stanley – obviously the best giraffe name out there), but I have a lot of sweet-talking to do before Husband agrees.
Here are five random things you probably didn’t want to know:
one. I think I have that disease where you need sunshine. I can’t go 3 consecutive days without vitamin D.
two. I love being outdoors and will sign up for any ridiculous activity that accomplishes this.
three. We were married in California in June 2010 and again in October. You know, just to make sure it worked the first time.
four. I’m a sucker for animals.
five. Christmas is by far my favorite time of year.
As a person lacking self-motivation and discipline (and with an overactive mind), I find myself easily distracted by life. I seem to run in 900 directions with no real purpose and not much to show for it. My house is less than pristine (but that can be blamed on the ever-expanding menagerie, right?), I’ve indulged in far more Oreos than I should have, and we eat mac-and-cheese too often (but it’s made with 8 cheeses I can’t pronounce so that’s something). I needed an outlet for my stories (Husband doesn’t think I’m funny. I think I’m hilarious.) and a forum for recipes so I don’t have to write them down more than once (because I really am that lazy). Thus, the blog was born. What a doozy of a New Year’s resolution for a non-writer with no real skills and a full-time job who doesn’t own a computer! Husband is letting me borrow his and this is my attempt to chronicle the silliness that I call life. Because, let’s face it, it’s always an adventure.
